King Cobra Snakes

September 25, 2008

All this time, I was suggesting that most of the snakes are very useful for us humans, since they are at the top of the food chain for eating all those rodents and mices that usually destroy and damage our crops and food grains, both that we store in our warehouses and fields. But this is not the same with this snake called the King Cobra. This is one snake the whole world fears about and why not? This is the one that certainly should be feared upon.

The king Cobra is also my favorite, but after the rattle snake. This is the largest and perhaps the longest toxic snake that is existing on this planet. This one usually lives in the tropical rain forest and the southern most parts of India. These are also found in southern China, and other parts of Southeast Asia. This is one snake that has a tarnished reputation for killing most of humans every year in Asia, after the Russels Viper.

This is such a powerful snake that has all that it takes to even kill an elephant or a giraffe, one drop of its venom can kill 500 adult human beings. These snakes usually slither on the trees as well as the land and are excellent swimmers. They have a lifespan for about 20 or 25 years.

These snakes can grow and measure about 18 to 20 feet in length and about 5 cms in width. But usually on the average they grow about 15 feet in length. Its fangs are like hypodermic needles that inject the venom once they bite their prey. Its fangs can grow about 1.25 to 1.5 cms long and they are always prepared with replacements, as one would break off and the other would automatically replace it. The king cobra often uses its hood to threaten animals as well as humans. They also have some kind of false eyespots that could scare its predators and hunters.

The king cobra is the only snake that is associated to be a cannibal, and this one could even eat its own species and sometimes other snakes. Usually the snake would love to relish frog, reptiles and other kinds of amphibians, but this one would love to devour and relish some of his own cousins and relatives.

This one would not think even once before attackingĀ  humans.
