Garden Snakes

November 16, 2008

I feel that snakes should not be simply feared off, just because they have a tarnish image and reputation. These creatures have been unjust victims of all the myths and rumors that have been associated with them and it’s us humans that have shown them in such weird way that even they would never think of.

There have been different movies and stories that have show them as ugly creatures where they devour humans and children, or where they bit simply for unwanted reasons. These have been the main cause of why we hate them and even have tried to kill them for no fault of theirs just because they have been looked down upon.

This is the same way I am sure we would treat garden snakes. These are those snakes that are usually found in our gardens and fields. These are harmless snakes as they are non venomous, they don’t even like to attack humans and more often try to escape and run for their lives when confronted upon. They are very important to the animal food chain since they help humans by keeping away and preventing the mices and the rats, from entering our houses and fields.

They also help the human to live a good life because they devour all those stupid rodents and rats that are responsible for spreading plague and other deadly diseases. They also keep our farms and crop safe since they sometimes would even eat the birds and it’s young. So in this way they help us from suffering financial losses too.

They eat all those insects and reptiles that hardly benefit our garden and there have been many reports where these have been responsible for even devouring the entire family of rodents within weeks. They also eat locust and other grass hoppers that damage our crops and other agricultural produce.

These garden snakes are very clean and they don’t even spread and transmit any disease to other people that might touch it or live near it. They don’t spread diseases such as rabies, or plague or fungus. All that they do is sometimes they bite if you try to attack them or provoke them; this is because they feel threatened and would certainly try to defend themselves. And even if you get bitten then there is nothing much to worry about as you can disinfect yourself with some common disinfectant.
