So, most people bit by a snake die due to a heart failure or the scare of getting bit by a snake. Most of these problems are caused due the much created hype by the television, stories and the ancient folklores.

 Snakes are usually found everywhere on the surface of the earth except the artic and the Antarctica. They love to stay in silent, swampy, dark and less civilized regions like the deep forests, farms and fields which are perfect for them to remain hidden from the eyes of humans and their predators. Like all animals, even snakes don’t attack until they feel threatened or are harmed.

 Just as the act of killing is completely dependent on the predators, similarly the act of delivering the poisonous venom is also voluntary and depends on the snake. But according to the experts most of the time, the snakes don’t deliver venom into their prey or their enemy. Such a type of snake bite is usually specified as a dry bite which is completely harmless in nature.

Also, sometimes the untimely release of the venom from the snakes before their fangs even penetrate into the flesh of the enemy or the prey causes the dry bite. But these dry bites from the snakes can also be harmful as they may also cause certain infections when the fangs penetrate into the flesh and are not dealt with properly.

 The most common snake bite symptoms include panicking, fear and mental instability which may further lead to a list of other problems like vomiting, nausea, fainting, cold and a sweaty skin. The person bit by a snake starts to go through a sequence of thoughts related to his death even if he is not bit by a deadly venomous snake. The bite of a cobra and vipers is very painful and also causes a swelling in the tissues around the bite.

Some of the consequences caused by a snake bite include the blisters, blindness, paralysis, kidney failure and also death. Thus, it is usually suggested that instead of panicking after a snake bite one should keep calm and quickly try getting some help and a proper treatment.

 Skin is one of our five sensory organs which is the outer living tissue covering of our body as well as that in all animals. A small fact about skin is that it is the largest organ of the protective system of our body which is made of multiple layers of tissues, muscles, ligaments, bones and fats. The skin acts as the interface between our body and the outer environment and so is one of the most parts of our body. It protects our body from the numerous pathogens and infections. Skin also performs many other fuctions such as, being an insulator for our body, regulating the temperature, synthesizing vitamin D, provides protection to the vitamin B folates in our body.

The skin in our body is has melanin pigments which are caused due to the melanocytes in the cells which absorbs the harmful radiations such as the ultra violet rays emitted from the sun. These cells also contain certain enzymes which help to repair the DNA and also help to reverse the damage caused due to the ultra violet rays of the sunlight. People lacking this gene have possibilities to be affected by skin cancer. Pigmentation in the skin mainly occurs due to the improper functioning of the endocrine glands and the liver in our body. Some of the main functions the skin performs in our body include the following:

1. Protection from the pathogens and the external harmful particles such as dust etc 
2. The skin has blood supplies which help to control the loss of energy caused due to convection, conduction and radiations. 
3. The skin layer on our body helps by acting as an impermeable membrane thus stopping the excess loss of fluids and water from our body, thus controls evaporation. 
4. The sweat that is excreted from our body contains urea which is much lower in concentration in comparison to the quantity of urea in the urine. Thus acts as a secondary excretory organ for our body.

Our skin should be properly cared by us as we age. With the increasing age our skin begins to get thinner and thus gets easily damaged and takes a long time to heal. Thus, you should take proper care of your skin as a glowing skin is a sign of a healthy body.

Ibn al-haytham who is called the father of optics was amongst the first people to study perception and also wrote a book on optics in the 1000s. Also, he was one of the first scientists to give the theory which said that vision occurs in the brain and not in our eyes. Later on Leonardo DaVinci recognized the special optical qualities of the eyes. He said that there is just one distinct and clear vision along the line of sight that is, the optical line which ends at fovea at one end of our eyes.

Scientifically, eyesight is the ability to deduce the visible lights reaching our eyes after striking some material which is then sent to our brain for planning the action to be taken. The final perception that is obtained is called the eyesight or the vision. The main process of seeing starts with the lens of the eye when it focuses on an image from the world around us which is further directed onto the light sensitive membrane placed at the back of our eyes called as the retina. The retina is usually considered as the isolated part of the brain which serves as a transducer for the purpose of conversion of the light patterns into a neuron signal. The lens of our eyes focuses the entering light onto the photoreceptive cells on the retinal screen which thus detects the value of the photons of the light and then responds by producing a neural signal in the form of an impulse. These impulses are then analyzed by the concerned parts of our brain and then a message about the object is sent in the form of an impulse to the retina. This is how we are able to see an object and then recognize it.

Different parts of our eyes require different minerals and vitamins for a good functioning. For instance, the lens, retina, macula etc. require various minerals, vitamins, antioxidants for their functioning. Vitamins C and E helps in providing a healthy and long term vision to our eyes. Pantothenic acid a sub part of the vitamin B also helps in improving the clarity in our vision. Thus, in other words, a good healthy diet comprising of green leafy vegetables and fruits helps in persisting a good clear vision.

Cobras are generally found in the tropical and the dessert regions of Asia and Africa. The largest cobra was recorded to be of a length of 5.58 m while they grow to an average length of 3.7 m. the young cobras are about 14 inches in length and have bright markings all over their body. The cobras, in a single bite can eject about 6-7 ml of venom and have a paralyzing effect.

They don’t harm anyone unless they feel threatened. Once they feel the threat, they rise about one-third to their length spreading their hood and making a hissing noise. The skin of the king cobra is covered by scales which thus looks shiny in appearance but completely fry to touch.

Most of the adult cobras are black, yellow, green or brown in color. The young cobras are often seen to have bright yellow, black or white bands all across their bodies which fade away with the passing time and later become broad stripe like markings on the adult cobras.

Cobras, move by sliding from place to place like the other snakes though they usually try to escape when scared. They arise aggressively from the ground as a defensive act when angered or while trying to look for a prey. The male cobras fight each other over a female cobra during their mating time. A unique feature of the cobras is that they are the only snakes which make a nest for their eggs.

The female cobra’s piles up leaves together to create their nest which also generates heat to warm the eggs in the nest. The female cobra’s lay about 20 to 40 eggs at the same time and curls over them trying to keep them warm for hatching.

Cobras mainly feast on rats, other snakes, lizards and other smaller creatures swallowing them completely head first. Their jaws are attached to each other which thus lets them to swallow even the wider animals. They are mainly found in the most remote areas like deep forests, swamps, thick undergrowths etc. away from the civilized areas.

In India, cobras are worshipped and depicted in the sculptures of the walls in temples. Cobras also form the garlands around the neck of lord Shiva and so are worshipped.

Lateral undulation is one of the most primitive types of vertebrate locomotion which is chiefly used by the lampreys in the water and the snakes on the land. The snakes mainly use at least five distinctive modes of locomotion namely the lateral undulation, sidewinding, concertina, rectilinear and the slide pushing.

Lateral undulation is one of the most noticeable serpentine locomotion observed in the snakes. The lateral undulation type of locomotion can be in simple words described as a sequence of alternating left right movement of the body in the form of waves which propagates to the posterior along the length of the body.

This movement is achieved by the unilateral posterior propagating activity of the muscles. This means that at any given point, the left and the right side muscles on the animal’s body are active. The active muscle contraction region on the animal’s body moves from its anteriorly situated head to the posteriorly situated tail region. Whenever a bend contacts the surface of any region like the rocks or any other hard surface the animal will exert a force against this surface to move ahead.

In a snake, during the lateral undulation, the dorsal muscles get activated. As the snake moves ahead, the posterior part of its body will follow the path that is defined by the head and the neck of the snake. The sliding friction created during such type of locomotion is the main component in lateral undulation. The general adjustment made during the curvatures made around a point with the surface indicates higher level of sensory and motor control that is unique only in the snakes and also in a few limbless reptilians.
